Software Engineer at Weather Insight, L.P.

(Privately Held; 11-50 employees; Oil & Energy industry)

March 2005 – Present

-Lead Web Developer in a Linux, Apache, Mason mod_perl environment using AJAX extensively for Weather apps tailored to energy traders. Combining various weather models into useable tools for the demand side (including our own custom forecast model Q-Cast which incorporates bias correction of several forecast models on a station-by-station basis to provide THE best forecast of your trading region), as well as providing real-time information on the supply side (such as power plant, refinery outages across the U.S., including estimates of impacts of storms, lightning strikes depending on which path the storm might take, probability estimates included!) (www.weatherinsight.com)

-Developer of our Real Time Delivery (RTD) system for delivering weather data using C# .Net and Excel (speed is critical when the markets are open!)

-Founder and manager of the programming intern program here. I'm responsible for training and managing them in their development work, primarily on the website. Before this, IT interns worked on the helpdesk in a support role, but did not develop code.

Obligatory blurb by the Marketing Goddesses(Gods):
Weather Insight provides tailored weather services for the energy industry. These weather services meet the rigorous and growing needs of industry meteorologists as well as provide key ‘market information’ to help traders better understand the influence weather may have upon commodity prices.
