Karen was a founding member of Belfast.pm but now lives in Japan. She still attends meetings at Birmingham.pm when she travels and hopes to get more involved with her local Perl Mongers group in Shibuya.

She is the President of The Perl Foundation. She is also a member of the YAPC Europe Venue Committee and an advisor on the YEF board.
