why Ocaml is better than Perl

I want to present a few points on which I think Ocaml shines, and Perl sucks. I
mainly want to tackle the problem of manipulation of symbolic datastructures
(including compilation). This includes reflexions about enumerated datatypes,
functors, staticness, type inference. And speed.
